Mindful Self-Care Practices

There is a tool that can assess the frequency and variety of mindful self-care practices. This is called the Mindful Self-Care Scale (MSCS). Based on theory as well as empirical studies, there are MSCS items that are aligned with certain strategies and Potential Therapy to help promote general well-being and positive embodiment. The following are some of the self-care aspects that are assessed:

Supportive Relationships

The degree in which a person feels supported while working in a profession that helps is correlated to well-being. This means that you need to surround yourself with supportive and highly positive people.

Physical Care

This is taking care of one’s body which means ensuring that it receives good hydration, exercise, sleep, and a healthy diet. It is a vital self-care strategy.

Mindful Relaxation

This means being present when engaging in any relaxing activity whether it is reading a book, listening to music, watching an art film, or aromatherapy. This is contrary to indulging in prohibited substance, watching violent media, and excessive use of the net.

Supportive Structure

A person has to have a supportive structure which includes organized work areas, a good living environment, a manageable schedule, a great balance between taking care of one’s self and caring for others.

Mindful Self-Awareness

It’s easy to feel imbalanced and lose touch of your thoughts, feelings, and body when life becomes too stressful or busy. Being self-aware means being more at present and aware of behavior at the moment. It can help you to change bad habits that may not be of help to you.

Self-Compassion and Purpose

Well-being is also correlated with a regular observance of self-compassion. This means being able to acknowledge personal challenges, do healthy self-talk, express feelings, and experiencing meaning in your personal life and career is an important aspect of your self-care plan.

There are several things you can do to ensure mindfulness self-caring strategies:

Enjoy a good company and conversation.

When you are in a good company of someone, stay away from social media or your gadget. Don’t neglect the company of a loved one seated across you at a dining table.

When you travel, be present wherever you are.

It’s one thing to be on a much-awaited holiday. Just make sure that you are not thinking about office work or texting with someone toxic at home. A vacation means you have to vacate your mind and let go of all things that have been holding you back. It’s the time to reset and to fully capture every moment.

Immerse yourself in the book you are reading.

There are times when you keep on repeating the same paragraph of the book over and over again. This is caused by mind chatter which can be hard to turn off. If you like to read, you can turn off your phone and find a quiet spot to read. Thoughts come and go but it’s important to bring one’s focus back to the reading material.

Relish the moment when you treat yourself.

If you want to treat yourself, just go and indulge. Don’t beat yourself up for it.
